|US iTunes Account - solution found

Just when I thought I was going to have to faff with either a US mail forwarding account + prepaid credit card, or a US bank account with a large deposit, I found the answer buried in a 2 year old reply to a blog post.|
It seems that if you have a gift voucher or a pre-paid iTunes card, for the US iTunes store, then you can create an account armed only with the card's code and a valid US address.
So, I bought a prepaid US iTunes card off ebay, went to the US iTunes site, redeemed it, created an account with a valid (if not my) address, and all was sorted. I can now buy music and videos :)
The slight faff is going to be buying the pre-paid cards off ebay. It is possible for people with US apple store accounts to buy "iTunes gift certifcates" which are emailed to the recipient. I think what I need to find is someone with a US apple account who'll buy such gift certificates for me, in exchange for being paypal'd the value of the certifcate + a small commission. For now though, I'll just have to make do with pre-pay cards from ebay.
Annoyingly, because I'm using iTunes 6 (so I can buy TV shows), I can't currently use SharpMusique or jHymn to get any purchased music into a linux-listenable state. Hopefully in the new year the iTunes 6 stuff will be figured out, and all will be good.
