You know you've been doing too much dancing when... [Jun. 5th, 2003|01:29 pm]

Just now, I stood up from my computer. I was going to do something on the other side of the room.

Half way across the room I realised that on standing up, I'd immediately done a heel turn, and walked off. Much faster than normal ways of turning around. Scary that I'd done it without thinking at all.....

In other dancing news, I went along to the bronze/silver medal class last night. Not sure why, I'm not doing the medals, just felt like learning some more steps. Ended up learning an entire international tango routine (int. tango is an even more lame dance than the vieneze waltz...), and the second half of an argentine tango routine (now there's a proper dance). Was good fun, if slightly scary about how fast I know seem to be able to pick up routines.

As Catherine wasn't there, I ended up dancing with someone new. She was quite good, and had only been coming to the classes (as opposed to being on the beginners team). Pleasingly, I was able to dance well with her, without having all the issues I had when I tried to dance with someone else just after Christmas. I guess the stuff at IVDA dancing with Elsie really paid off (Catherine had exams then, so I got another partner, if you hadn't guessed). Anyway, this girl (who's name I've forgotten) was miffed as to where the 6 of us from the beginners team had sprung from. She couldn't figure out how we could appear at the class for the first time, all know a fair amount of dances, be wearing nearly worn out dancing shoes (grr, they only last less than a year) as opposed to shiny new ones etc. Still, we could all dance nearly as well as those from the class, and we brought more guys than girls (finding guys is always a problem with dancing). Oh, and we danced some turns including heel turns, which might explain this mornings fast turns....

Right, time to write more of my thesis, and stop procrastinating in my LJ....
