If Buffy is the TV series of my University life (and Sax's, as he's posted in the past), the AP is the film series.
Last night, I finally got around to going to see AP3. It was the first time in a while that I've been to the Odeon rather than the Pheonix, and it might be a while until I do again. The place was full of people who insisted on cheering, clapping, talking and generally being decidedly annoying throughout the whole film. You just don't get that sort of behaviour watching indie films in the pheonix. Much like going back to using Windows, with crashes and adverts everywhere from a prolonged useage of Linux, you are reminded just why you don't normally do that, and quite how bad it is....
Anyway, the film. Well, it certainly was an American Pie film. Not quite as gross-out as in the past, though only just... most of the gags had a longer build up to them, and generally were all the better for this. Lots of brilliant comic moments, not too many bad ones, and a script that made you actually care for the characters through it all. Great moments included Stiffler being Finch to try to pull Michelle's sister while Finch was being the Finchmeister, to pull the same girl, it was certainly amussing. Michelle's parent's impressions of the gang were also priceless. The dancing scenes were also pretty good, especially in the gar bar. Still, I'm sure that when Ross and Vicky finally get married, their first dance will be even better....
One slightly scary thing - they leave college and get married. I know too many people who are doing that (or, worse, getting married while still in Uni!). Just plain disturbing....
All in all, a good film. Not a great film, but probably worth seeing all the same. Might even get it on DVD, if I spot it for a sensible price (eg I got AP2 for 8 quid, which strikes me as the right sort of price point).
