Despite lots of engineering works, and the snow, we made it home today. We nearly missed our train due to not all of the A1 having been gritted (the bit near Newcastle wasn't done, but the bit near Morpeth had been), and it did take 7 hours, but we did get there in the end!|
As expected, it had snowed overnight. Morpeth (and the surrounding area) did look very pretty in the snow. It's a pity we had to leave on the day it snowed though, as it would've been nice to go for some walks in it.
Overall though, Christmas chez Hamnett was fun and a good success. Tomorrow we're off to my parents, then back on New Year's Eve for Dom's Party. It's all go!
On a vaguely related note, Giant Microbes are very cool, and went down very well as stocking fillers. There are loads of different ones available, might have to get some more at some point :)
Oh, and if you're not following quidity (Alex Gough's blog from Antarctica), then you should be. Today's post featured cute penguins doing silly things!
