More on GPS Software [Jan. 17th, 2006|06:38 pm]
On the commercial software front, the latest version of GETrack is now able to work with my GPS. Kudos to the author for all the help, and the test builds required to get it working :)

In terms of nmea_info.py, I'm now up to version 0.04. I'm editing the original post with the details of the new features, but the main ones so far are a satellite view, and satellite signal strength.

Next up, I'm going to try fighting with co-ordinate system conversion, to turn the WGS84 data into OSGB 36, and then into OS easting and northing values. See an earlier post for why that isn't so easy :)

After that, I need to get swapping between Canvas view (where you just draw objects, write text etc) and Listbox view (normal Symbian popups, selection etc). Currently, my program just exists when I change, but the handy folks on Symbian-Hacks do have some ideas I need to try out.

Otherwise, I've been logging a few tracks into OpenStreetmap, and that's all working well.
