nmea_info.py and upload_track.py updates [Mar. 11th, 2007|01:35 pm]
While we were in Canada, I made lots of use of my gps python programs, nmea_info.py and upload_track.py. I discovered a few bugs, and a few annoyances. Finally, I've had a chance to fix these.

So, there's a new version of nmea_info.py, v0.21. It has a few bug fixes in it, and the satellite view screen now has different colours for in-use satellites, and non in-use satellites.

Most of the work went into upload_track.py, which is now at v0.10. The big thing is it now supports gzipping the tracks it sends over bluetooth, be that nmea or gpx format. This makes a fair difference to the upload time, not to mention the disk storage afterwards. Also up, we have the option to rename files from the details screen, and a link from the upload options screen to the details screen.

For both of these, v1 / v2 sis files are in the usual place (and linked from their pages above). I've generated un-signed v3 sis files for both, but I'm still waiting for someone to offer to test them, since I don't yet have a s60 v3 phone.

Also, if you're interested in doing gzipping on a series 60 phone in python, take a look at the code of upload_track.py. As the phones only support the zlib module, not the full gzip module, I had to code up the missing bits myself.

Great, thanks :)

What phone do you use normally then, if your N73 normally has dead batteries?
