<liverant type="bike incident">
I was cycling home to go to the bookbinders after labs, about 7.30. As usual, I was cycling back via the lamb and flag passage.
There are bars on the lamb and flag passage to slow down cyclists. They are always out of the way. Well, almost. One lunchtime near the start of term I'd seen them in the way, but by the time I went home that evening, they were "sorted"
So, I was cycling along, moderate speed (i.e. a bit slower than usual), and approaching the really dark bit with the barriers. About a meter or two away, I spy the black barrier is acvross, and slam on my brakes. Barely a second later, I'm lying over the bar, bike tangled up in my legs. I'm winded, dazed, on the point of passing out, and my left hand really hurts.
Picked myself up, sat down until most of the black dots on my vision pass, and then proceed to walk slowly home, avoiding passing out.
I think I've sprained both my left wrist and my left hand! I can move both, but it really really hurts. Lots. Have it strapped up (with kit owned by the lifesaving club, bein president has advantages...), so not too bad, unless I move it.
Typing is very slow and annoying. Most annoyed. :-(
Wonder if I can get dispensation for my thesis for this. Hmm, must check it out.
Grr, all housemates are out. Getting this strapped up again tomorrow is going to be fun now, isn't it?
Mental note - never buy a moterbike...
