Only in Oxford [Dec. 24th, 2003|04:54 pm]
[music |Elbow - 1 Ribcage]

On Saturday, I went to watch Dom perform in the Oxford Bach Choir Christmas Carol Concert, held in the Sheldonian Theatre.

It was a mix of readings, carols sung by the choir, carols sung by all, and a few pieces played by the brass group they had to accompany them. It was a very good concert, and hopefully I'll make it along to some of their other ones this year.

Anyway, in the concert, one of the carols they had for everyone to sing was in....

.... Latin. Yes, that's right, we sung a carol in Latin. I'm not sure which is more scary, the fact that they included it, or the fact the most of the audience were quite capable of reading Latin to sing it!

Only in Oxford....

Not only in Oxford ...

We used to sing what's probably the most common Latin carol at school: 'Adeste Fideles' - I think I've spelt it wrong, but then I've not studied latin in -ooh- 8 years (it's 'O Come All Ye Faithful' for non-classicists!)
