More Boat Race Plans [Mar. 25th, 2004|08:30 am]
My coming weekend is going to be spent with a fair bit of time in London, with bits back in Oxford between.... Anyway, I'm in London on Saturday, visiting some gallery or something in the day, then going to the theater with Ross in the evening, and finally heading back after with Hilary.

Now, Sunday (Boat Race Day). First race is at 5.10, main race is at 6. I intend to get the 13.45 train from Oxford, arriving London at 14.45, and allowing me to appear at Hammersmith tube station for about quarter past 3.

The plan: collect everyone from just outside the Tesco Metro in Hammersmith tube station, by about 3.30. Head down to the river by 4. Avail ourselves of one of the waterside pubs, and get a few cheeky pints in (ring someone already there if you're arriving late, and we'll supply directions). At about 5, we'll head outside, probably onto the grass just to the west of the bridge. We'll watch the three races with pints taken out from the pub / bought from a stall in the park.

Depending on what people want to do, we'll possibly head off for a meal after the last race, or maybe just have a sly half then head on.

Any questions? Who's planning on attending?

You're not by some freak coincidence going to see Continental Divide at the Barbican, are you?

I'm coming. All sounds good to me.

Nope, off to see "When Harry Met Sally". Irritatingly, we're going during one of the few weeks when Allison isn't playing (didn't know those dates when we booked....)
