here, and there are some very stunning shots there. Some of the earth rise ones are just amazing. Two kinda space related things. Firstly, NASA have dug their Apollo 11 photos out of the freezer, and scanned them. You can view them |
Secondly, I ordered the new Battlestar Galactica mini series DVDs from amazon a few weeks ago. Wil Wheaton's Just A Geek finally came out in the UK, so my order shipped and I got the DVD yesterday (I'll review JAG once I get a chance to read it, might be a while)
I can remember watching Galactica many many moons ago, probably when it came round on UK TV for the second time. When I heard they were remaking it, I was a little dubious of it. I then didn't hear much more about it either way, and had mostly forgotten. Then, Amazon were evil and suggested I buy a copy, and offered me a very low price on it. A quick check of the reviews showed that it was actually pretty well regarded, so into the shopping basket it went.
It is really really good. Hell, even the 20 minute making of thingy was actually pretty good! Yes, a couple of the characters had become female, but that was a good thing godamit! It was slick. Visually stunning. Very good script, it really engaged you, made you feel for the characters. This is what SciFi should be like, but so often isn't.
I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone into SciFi. I may even recommend it to Hilary, but I'm not sure how it'll go down.... Roll on the full series, due for spring of next year :)
