Yoga and Colds [Nov. 17th, 2004|09:00 pm]
For the last few days, I've had a cold. I blame it on going drinking with Laura's friends on the weekend. Pesky students with their germs...

So, I spent today feeling a little under the weather. Sniffing, coughing, not quite being fully with it, usual stuff. I then came home, and headed to yoga.

This term, I've been going to a beginners yoga course run in the Iffley village hall. It's a massive 2 minutes walk away, and very friendly. The teacher even makes suggestions on what lame, non flexible men should do when they just can't bend/stretch as the position requires!

Anyway, I turned up feeling sniffly and not quite with it. Within about 10 minutes, I'd largely stopped sniffing and coughing, and was feeling much better. By the end of the session, I was feeling almost like normal.

Alas, the effect has started to wear off, and I'm probably half way back to feeling as bad as I was during the day. Still, it did make me feel better for a bit, and I'm getting close to being able to touch my toes. Now to get everyone to stop sniggering when I say I'm going to yoga...

(Quidity (http://use.perl.org/~quidity/)) I find that any exercise when I'm ill makes me feel a whole lot better during the exercise. Especially something gentle but extended like walking or kayaking. I'll possibly feel worse the next day, but I'll probably be at work for that, so hey.

Also: staying in bed.
