[LJ2ME] Why can't virgin trains buy enough trains? [Mar. 24th, 2005|12:47 pm]
Nick
So, I'm heading up to glasgow for the weekend. As usual, we're going by train.

We were supposed to have 20 minutes at Birmingham to make our connection. The virgin train was late into Oxford, and was already packed. We had to stand all the way, getting gradually more packed in as we went. From the airport into new street, there was no space at all.

We arrived just as the connection left, because they wouldn't hold it. The virgin staff weren't much help about alternatives (no, we don't want to wait 2 hours at new street).

We've ended up on a central trains service to Crewe. The train is clean, comfortable, and not full. The conductor has actually been round, and was nice.

All virgin need to do is buy a few more carriages (so there's space) and hold the odd train. But no, instead they make everyone's journeys a pain :(

but so long as they only hold the ones Nick or I want to get on I doubt either of us would care much!

They only needed to hold it for a minute and we could've made it.

I wouldn't expect them to hold it for 5, but when holding it for 2 might do, given the slack time they have in the timetable, they probably should.
